NYCArthur of Flicker has contributed a few pics for the design of Table 20. His images really capture the authenticity of the people in the restaurant industry.
That’s his pic up top.

Table 20 Job Board Development Update
January 26th, 2008 · 2 Comments
The website application (www.table20.com) that is the reason for this blog is almost ready for its debut.
It’s been a long three year process hampered by lack of resources, cash and time. Then one year ago I began working with an incredible developer, ran into some unexpected cash and I made the time to focus on the details of this application.
The devil is in the details and there are an insane number of details involved in creating a user centric web application for restaurant job seekers and hiring managers. An elegant application that I believe users will find much value in using.
What began as a fairly standard job board application has completely transformed into something new and different.
I’ve taken a few risks and made a lot decisions about the site’s functionality and operation based on hunches and my past experiences as a job seeker, restaurant manager and interactive project manager.
I think you’ll appreciate the effort.
Stay tuned.

A study finds that the second highest rate of depression is found among food service workers. Sad to read, but not surprising. It’s hardwork making others smile while we struggle to achieve the goals that will make us smile.

Restaurant & bar industry blogger wanted
October 14th, 2007 · 3 Comments
Writing is not our strong suit here at Table 20, so we’re in search of a good blogger(s) to take over here.
The goal of Table 20 Talk is to talk about the restaurant industry from the worker’s perspective. Kinda like Eater and Grub Street, but specific to those in the trenches servers, bartenders, cocktailers, hosts, barbacks, busboys . . .
We’ll try to accomplish this by featuring you -the restaurant worker - your thoughts, experiences and stories. We can’t get enough of Eater’s Gatekeeper and Grub Street’s Ask A Waiter. We like what Shift Drink is doing for restaurant workers too.
This is a paid position, so if you can sling drinks to a rowdy crowd 3 deep or wrangle a 12-top plus research and write then we’re interested.
If you know anyone or if you are anyone, hit us up.

For good advice, Ask a Bartender
March 27th, 2007 · 1 Comment
The best advice is bartender advice.
We’ve seen it all, heard it all and done it all.
Customers are dying to talk to us too. I’ve consistently found that a simple “how’s it going” to even the most unapproachable lone customer, unleashes the flood gates and that’s before they’ve had a few.
It makes perfect sense - we’re a friendly face outside of their social circle, plus we get them buzzed. A good bartender is the only objective ear in most people’s lives. There is even an unspoken “bartender customer privilege” agreement.
I was happy to stumble onto the blog of a bartender named Mitchell that’s putting his advice skills to good use - Ask a Bartender
Enjoy!
